Little Miss Sunshine: Stylish Toddler Girl Spring Dresses

25/02/2020

Though we might still feel like we are in the depths of winter, with the winds howling and the rain persisting, believe it or not but spring is right around the corner. That’s right – before you know it, or so we hope – things will start looking brighter and warmer, and that calls for a change in our wardrobe too.

Spring dressing, like the season itself, is full of optimism and hope. Winter wardrobes are often full of dark colours and heavy fabrics to reflect the weather, but spring is a chance to get rid of the doom and gloom and opt instead for brighter, lighter colours and materials and have a bit more fun. This can also be the perfect season for dressing baby and toddler girls; their naturally youthful and positive energy can easily be reflected in any spring style.

Whether its flowers, frills, tulle or lace, there’s an enormous range of options for your toddler’s spring wardrobe. And with fashion month for the Autumn/Winter 2020 season currently taking place too, there’s extra inspiration going round. Since seasonal dressing is becoming less structured, there’s bound to be plenty of ideas you can adopt. So with that in mind, we’ve put together a round-up of some of our top spring styles for toddler and baby girls to help you get on the right track before it’s really time to get in the spring of things!

Fun with florals

The first thing that comes to mind when thinking of spring dressing undoubtedly has to be florals. The epitome of spring, floral clothing reflects the blooming nature outside and it’s a wonderfully fun and positive way to have fun with fashion.

Ivory and Cerise Pink Rose Dress

Florals are typically quite feminine, and if this your toddler’s style then why not try something like this Ivory and Cerise Pink rose floral party gown. Perfect for formal events or even garden and tea parties, this glamorous style features a pleated ball gown silhouette with bow shoulder details, a gold and white stripe colourway and a luxe flower design that’s timelessly on-trend. Since this is quite a maximalist piece with lots going on, it’s best to keep things simple throughout the rest of the outfit. A simple head band could elevate the look nicely without being too much.

Here’s from floral inspiration from the New York Times Style magazine.

Bold and bright

The colours that emerge around spring time are one of the best things about the oncoming of the new season. Softer, subtle colours like pale pinks and blues can be pretty and feminine but there’s something extra fun about experimenting with bold and bright colours while the weather permits!

Green Damask Prom Gown

Bold colours are especially well-suited to toddlers too – something like this bright green damask dress is the perfect way to try out this eye-catching style. The polished ballon style sleeves is enough of a statement to make this piece ideal for formal occasions, but the sophistication and simplicity of this waisted dress balances the proportions out so everything is in check. The textured fabric has a gorgeous couture appeal, and the Jewelled motif adds an elegant finish.

Colour blocking has also been a huge trend as of late in the fashion industry, so choosing something like this piece will also ensure you can show off your knowledge. Read more about what some of the top bright colours are for this spring.

Golden metallics

Shimmery shiny metallics are always in style, but spring is the perfect time to wear them since the sun should finally be appearing after months of cloud and rain, and a dazzling metallic can reflect that. Whether its gold, silver, bronze or champagne, metallics are an instant way of elevating any formal outfit and making it feel that extra bit special.

This ivory tinkerbell ball gown is one example of just that. The full-bodied, exaggerated silhouette is going to look spectacular on any toddler or young girl who has already developed a bold sense of style. With a ballgown skirt, embroidered gold daask bodice design and bow details, it’s the perfect party look for any spring party or special occasion, while the intricate gold leaf motif adds yet another dimension to the piece.

To accessorise, try some simple gold jewellery or an embellished head band to tie the entire look together.

Pretty in pink

If you’re looking for a more traditionally feminine piece this spring, try something that fits the bill, but has an extra edge. For example, one gown you can wear to demonstrate this attitude is something like this pink jacquard ball gown. In a soft, pale, pastel pink, it’s the perfect spring shade, but its impressively intricate details are what make it stand out so that it’s not just another pretty gown.

Pink Jacquard Ball Gown

In a stunning pink and rose gold colourway, it features a sophisticated fit and flare shape, bow details on the shoulders, and a gold floral motif on the skirt, so that it makes an impression without being too in-your-face. Finally, the textured fabric creates another level of detail that will make any girl stand out.

As for accessories, most toddlers and younger girls naturally don’t need anyway, and they can in fact just get in the way. But one way to add something extra if you want is with a hair clip or barrette. It’s not only extremely on-trend, it’s also practical, keeping hair off the face and out the way. This Pastel pink Pearl Hairband would do just the trick; with pearl and diamond bow detail and tiny gold leaves. it’s the perfect amount of detail without being too distracting.

Whether your toddler’s style is girly, bold, simple or daring, spring is the time to experiment no matter your personal preference. We might still be in winter’s clutches, but the promise of spring is around the corner, so there’s no reason to not get prepared and be ahead of the curve.
